아동방임에 대한 가족의사소통의 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 아동방임의 실태와 방임에 영향을 주는 요인들을 파악하고자 하는 목적으로 수행되었으며, 학령기 아동들을 대상으로 하여 아동개인특성과 가족환경특성은 물론, 기존 연구에서 충분히 다루어지지 않았던 가족의사소통기능이 아동방임에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 살펴보았다. 아동방임에 대한 실태분석을 통해 상당수의 일반 취학아동들이 의식주와 관련된 기본적 욕구에 대한 방임과 함께, 우려할 수준의 의료적 방임을 경험하는 것으로 조사되었고, 방임경험이 있는 아동 중 두 가지 이상의 방임유형을 중복 경험하는 아동들도 30%가 넘는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 아동방임의 영향요인에 대한 위계적 다중회귀분석분석의 결과, 아동의 개인특성이나 가족환경특성보다는 가족의사소통기능이 아동방임의 경험정도에 상대적으로 더 큰 영향을 준다는 사실이 확인되었다. 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 한 실천적 함의로써, 방임예방 노력의 중심에 가족의 의사소통기능이 필수적으로 고려되어야 한다는 점과 부모와 아동에 대한 다양하고도 실질적인 서비스 제공의 필요성, 정책과 제도적 정비에 대한 대안들이 제시되었다.

The aim of this study was to find indicators affecting severity of child neglect and to suggest implications, with its findings, for social work practice for families and children at risk. Using the sample of 263 school-age children, a series of analyses were executed to examine 1) the degree of chid neglect experience, and 2) individual, family, environmental, family communication factors influencing child neglect. Findings of the study indicated a considerable number of children(55 out of 263, 20.9%) experienced any kind of child neglect victimization during the past 12 months. Findings of hierarchical multiple regression also identified that the degree of family communication showed a significant relationship with severity of child neglect, even after controlling for influences of other variables in the model. Along with major findings of the study, implications for social work practice and policy were discussed.
