미신고 복지시설 노인의 우울과 자아존중감에 대한 다층분석

Abstract

본 연구는 미신고 시설 노인의 우울과 자아존중감에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 실증적으로 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 서울, 경기, 인천지역 14개 미신고 노인복지시설과 해당 시설 노인 222명을 대상으로 면접조사를 실시하였다. 조사를 통해 확보된 개인수준(1수준)과 시설수준(2수준)의 자료는 다층모형(HLM)의 분석기법에 따라 병합하여 분석하였다. 분석의 결과, 첫째, 미신고 시설 노인에 대한 개인특성변수 중 일상생활수행능력(ADL), 영양상태, 교육수준, 그리고 국민기초생활보장 수급권자 여부가 우울에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악되었다. 둘째, 미신고 시설에 대한 시설특성변수 중 시설 생활인 수와 시설장의 사회복지사 자격여부가 시설 노인의 자아존중감에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 셋째, 미신고 시설 노인의 우울과 자아존중감에 대한 사회적 지지의 영향력 분석에서 양적 측면의 구조적 지지는 통계적 유의성이 발견되지 않은 반면, 질적 측면의 기능적 지지는 우울과 자아존중감 모두에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다.

The purpose of this study is to find out the major independent variables on depression and self-esteem of the elderly living in unreported residential facilities. Two hundred twenty two old people were selected from 14 unreported residential facilities in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeongki regions. Two separate data, the elderly and the residential facilities, was collected by the organized face-to-face in-depth interviews. This data was statistically analyzed by the Hierarchical Linear Model (HLM) after merging the individual level and the facility level data. The analysis results showed that the effect of functional social support on depression and self-esteem of the elders was statistically significant. When the level of functional support toward the elderly increases, the level of their depression decreases and at the same time the level of their self-esteem increases. Otherwise, the effect of structural social support was not significant and even provided a negative effect on depression. Among the individual variables, the most decisive influence on depression was the level of ADL, diet, education, and whether they were recipients of public assistance program(NBLSS). Regarding facility variables, the number of the elderly in each facility provided a significant effect on their self-esteem.
