「くださいます」의 성립 연구

Abstract

본고에서는 현대 일본어의 원류를 살펴본다는 관점에서 「くださいます」의 성립, 다시 말해 「くださります」→「くださいます」의 변화과정 속에서 보이는 지속 차이를 중심으로 한 다양한 경향과 성립시기 및 변화의 완료시기에 대하여, 근세후기 明和～天保期의 江戸語를 대상으로 고찰하였다. 그 결과, 몇 가지 새로운 사실이 밝혀졌는데, 이를 정리하면 대략 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지역적인 면에서 보면 江戸語의 「くださります」→「くださいます」의 변화속도는 上方語의 변화보다 빠르다. 둘째, 「くださります」→「くださいます」의 변화속도는 동일어의 명령표현 「くだされ」→「ください」의 변화보다 느리다. 셋째, 위상적인 면에서 보면 여성어의 「くださります」→「くださいます」의 변화속도는 남성어의 변화보다 빠르다. 넷째, 「くださります」→「くださいます」의 변화속도는 동종의 경어표현 「いらっしゃります」→「いらっしゃいます」 및 「なさります」→「なさいます」의 변화보다는 느리지만, 「ござります」→「ございます」의 변화보다는 빠르다. 다섯째, 「くださいます」의 성립시기는 安永期로, 「なさいます」의 성립시기인 明和期보다는 늦지만 「いらっしゃいます」 및 「ございます」의 성립시기인 安永期와는 같다. 여섯째, 「くださります」→「くださいます」의 변화 완료시기는 天保期로, 「なさります」→「なさいます」의 변화 완료시기인 文化期보다는 늦지만, 「いらっしゃります」→「いらっしゃいます」(본동사) 및 「ござります」→「ございます」의 변화 완료시기인 天保期와는 같다. 이와 같은 고찰 결과를 통하여 동종의 경어표현일지라도 다양한 지속 차이를 보이면서 진행되었다는 점과 현대 일본어와 동일한 형태의 경어표현 성립시기와 완료시기를 알 수 있었다.

This study investigates the diachronic change of Kudasaimasu and the periods of its initial and complete uses, focusing on the tendency of ‘slow’ and ‘fast’ changes in the formation of Kudasaimasu in Edo Language of the period Meiwa-Tempo. The result of the study is as follows:(1) From the geological point of view, the linguistic change Kudasarimasu → Kudasaimasu of Edo Language is faster than that of Kamigata Language. (2) The change of Kudasarimasu → Kudasaimasu is slower than that of Kudasare → Kudasai. (3) From the point of view of gender status, the change of Kudasarimasu → Kudasaimasu in female speech is faster than that in male speech. (4) The change of Kudasarimasu → Kudasaimasu is faster than that of Gozarimasu→ Gozaimasru, but it is slower than those of Irassharimasu → Irasshaimasu and Nasarimasu → Nasaimasu. (5) The change of Kudasaimasu, Irasshaimasu, and Gozaimasu occurs in Angei period, which is later than Meiwa period, in which Nasaimasu formed. (6) The change of Kudasarimasu →Kudasaimasu/ Irassharimasu → Irasshaimasu/ Gozarimasu → Gozaimasu completed in Tempo period, which is later than that of Nasarimasu → Nasaimasu in Bungka period
