‘배심원 토론’을 활용한 민주시민 인성교육에 관한 수업방안 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 교양 교육 안에서 민주시민 인성 교육의 가능성을 모색해 보고, 이에따른 수업 모형을 계발하여 효능을 증명해 내는 것을 궁극적인 목표로 하였다. 민주주의에 입각한 의사소통의 방법으로 ‘배심원 토론’을 도입하였고, 공동체의 문제를 나누고 공감할 수 있는 수업을 직접 실현해 보았다. 그 결과 이 연구에서 제시한 민주시민 인성 교육의 수업 모형과 ‘배심원 토론’이 갖는 의의와 효능은 다음과같다. 첫째, 대학 교양수업과 민주시민 인성교육이 만났다는 점에서 하나의 새로운 인성 교육 모델의 대안이 될 수 있다. 16주 수업에 대한 커리큘럼을 제시하여 한 학기 수업을 전반적으로 조망할 수 있도록 하였고, 직접 실행해 보면서 그 가능성을확인해 볼 수 있었다. 둘째, 의사소통 수단으로 ‘배심원 토론’을 선택하였다는 점에서 기존의 대학 토론 방식들과 차별화를 시도하였다. 아직 자리 잡지 못한 배심원토론을 구조화하였다는 점에서 의사소통 수업의 또 다른 발전 방향을 제시할 수있었다. 셋째, 배심원 토론을 통한 의사소통 수업이 ‘사회윤리’ 측면에서 성과를 거두었다는 결과를 도출하면서, 수업의 유의미성을 실증적으로 확인하였다.

This study sought the possibility of democratic citizenship education in universal liberal arts education. And the final goal was to develop the teaching model and to prove the effect. We introduced jury discussion as a method of democratic communication, and realized the lessons that can share and sympathize with the problems of the community. As a result, the teaching model of democratic citizenship education presented in this study and the meaning and efficacy of jury discussion are as follows. First, the combination of university liberal arts education and democratic citizenship education can be an alternative to the new personality education model. I showed the curriculum for 16 weeks, confirmed all the lessons, and confirmed the possibilities by running them. Second, we tried to differentiate from the existing university discussion methods in that we chose jury discussion as a means of communication. The structure of the jury s debate which has not been settled yet was able to present another developmental direction of the communication class. Third, we concluded that the communication lesson through the jury discussion was successful in the aspect of 'social ethics'.
