- Abstract
- English Language Testing Professionalism from Ethical DimensionsShin, Dong-IlThe purpose of this paper is to raise ethical questions of EFL (English as a Foreign Language) testing practices in Korea. Until the last decade, EFL education and testing business have not been aware of ethical dimensions of test usefulness and administration. In this study, legal and academic cases of language testing are examined in relation to ethical concerns, and an ethical code of testing practice proposed by International Language Testing Association is proposed as one possibility of ethical approaches to English language testing in Korea. This article mainly addresses the role of ethics in professional activities of EFL testing, and it is concluded that ethical pressure should have profound impact on EFL test design, administration, and outcome analysis.
