북한 정권 수립기 문맹퇴치운동의 정치사회화 기능에 관한 연구

Abstract

문해사회는 평생교육이 추구하는 학습사회에 우선한다. 문해사 면에서 해방 후 3년간은 3천년의 역사와 같은 의미를 지닌다. 해방 후 3년은 우리나라에서 문해사회의 초석을 놓은 결정적 시기인 원점에 해당된다. 이 논문은 개인적으로는 해방 후 북한이 어떻게 단시일 내에 광대한 문맹군을 일시에 해소하고 공산주의 정권 수립에 성공하였을까라는 지적 호기심에서, 학술적으로는 해방 후 북한정권 형성기의 문맹퇴치 운동에 대해 공산정권 수립 차원의 정치사회화 면에서 접근할 필요가 있다는 문제의식에서 출발하였다. 이를 위해 북한 문맹퇴치운동의 배경, 전개과정, 조직화 및 제도화 과정, 교육방법 및 자원동원과정, 인제군 학습사례를 집중 분석하였다. 그 결과 북한의 문맹퇴치 운동은 첫째, 사회변혁과 맞물린 문맹퇴치 운동이었으며, 둘째, 조직적, 체계적 문맹퇴치 운동이었으며, 셋째, 정치적 성격의 문맹퇴치 운동이었으며, 넷째, 학교교육과 사회교육의 결합을 시도한 문맹퇴치 운동이었으며, 다섯째, 거대한 학습국가의 실현체라는 특징을 보인다. 다만 개인의 자율적 판단에 따른 학습사회라기보다는 국가 주도의 타율적 학습국가를 지향했다는 데 한계점이 있다고 결론을 맺는다.

Korean independence against Japan was a change from colonialism to democracy. This was a change of social system which also necessitated an identity change, in which national literacy campaign plays a major role. Having this in mind, the purpose of this study is to analyze the political socialization functions of literacy campaign during the formation of the North Korea after liberation in 1945. This study reveals the characteristics of national literacy campaign as follows. First, it was closely connected with the social transformation. Secondly, it was systematically organized. Thirdly, it was also a political campaign. Fourthly, it was an attempt to connect both formal education and nonformal education. Lastly, North Korea might be regarded as a kind of learning nation.
