- Abstract
- As a way to illustrate big changes in the contours of American identity, this essay will briefly survey how contemporary American theater has migrated from a white-dominant situation to an arena with multicultural voices. For this purpose, this paper deals with the diverse aspects of the Pulitzer Prize winners over the last twenty years as well as the top twenty most produced playwrights over the last severalyears. In addition, three plays from the Pulitzer Prize winner list that represent unique social and cultural features with different perspectives will be briefly discussed.
