Abstract
As demands of henna hair-dye increase recently, the amount of distribution of it also rises. However, a hair-dye of henna has its potential problems such as dermatitis, respiratory disorder or loss of eye sight. Therefore, when imported it should be entitled as medical supplies not as general merchandise among industrial products. However, more than 20 kinds of henna hair-dye are imported and distributed as general merchandise under no regulations. Because of the absence of proper regulation for its element, this experiment is conducted to identify the characteristic of the components of the henna hair-dye, the quality evaluation data for each kinds of henna hair-dye and to develop the standard of the products through physical and chemical experiment and set the criterion of the amount of included gallic acid and lawsone for the distributed henna hair-dye using TLC, HPLC pattern analysis. As a result of TLC, HPLC pattern analysis, various components are showed in henna products. The confirmation test using gallic acid suggests that in TLC pattern, the developmental solvent is 'Chloroform : Methanol : Water = 15: 6: 1' is proper. When appeared FeCl3, it is identified as blue spot nearby Rf 0.6. When it comes to the contents of gallic acid, it is 0.29± 0.15% by the analysis of HPLC. Thus, it suggests that it should contain more than 0.14% as gallic acid. This is the first experiment using the elements of the distributed henna hair-dye and is considered as an important study thereby.
