사회자본과 양성평등: 사회자본의 성별 특성과 양성평등에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 성별 사회자본 형성과정과 그에 따른 결과가 양성평등 태도에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적에 의거 성별 사회자본 형성과정은 차이가 있는가, 성별 양성평등 태도는 상이한가, 사회자본 차이가 양성평등 태도에 어떤 영향을 미치는가를 연구문제로 설정하였다. 사회자본 형성과 양성평등에 대한 태도는 가정, 직장, 사회를 기준으로 분류되었고, 성별 특성은 직장남성, 직장여성, 전업주부로 구분하여 분석되었다. 서울, 부산, 광주 주민 2,222명을 대상으로 분석할 결과, ① 성별 사회자본 형성과정은 차이를 보였다. 여성은 가족이나 직장동료 등 동질적 성향을 지닌 집단을 통해 사회자본을 형성하는 반면 남성은 직장 상사와 이질적 단체참여 및 정치참여와 같은 이질적 성향을 지닌 집단을 통해 사회자본을 형성하고 있었다. ② 성별 사회자본 축적수준이 상이하고, 여성 중에서도 직장여성과 전업주부의 사회자본은 뚜렷한 차이를 보였다. ③ 성별 양성평등에 대한 태도에 차이를 보였다. 남성은 양성평등 의식이 낮고 여성은 보다 높게 나타났다. ④ 가정, 직장, 사회 내 형성된 사회자본 축적수준에 따라 양성평등에 대한 태도가 다르게 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 본 연구는 성별 사회자본 차이 발생 요인과 그에 따른 양성평등에 대한 태도변화에 대해 논의하였다.

This study clarifies the process of building social capital according to gender and its results. For the purpose of this study, it is examined how the female social capital is differently built from male's, whether the behavior of gender equality is similar according to men and women, and how the difference of social capital from gender difference affects the behavior of gender equality. More than 2,000 surveys are used for data in Seoul, Busan and Kwangju. This research finds following results. First, gender difference has an effect on building social capital. While women build social capital mainly through the networks of family and fellow workers, men have mainly the networks of superior workers, heterogeneous social and political associates. Second, the level of female social capital is different from that of male's according to the types of social capital. And, the social capital of female workers is different from that of housewives according to the types of social capital. Third, the behavior of gender equality is different from men and women. men's level of gender equality is lower than women's. From these results, this paper discusses research implications for further research.
