Abstract
As we are entering an Aging society in which the elderly population has recently been increasing rapidly, the health and welfare of the elderly generation is being understood to be important. Therefore, this study aims at fitness improvement and health management aspects of women after menopause by examining the effect of aerobic and anaerobic exercises on melatonin and growth hormones. The study method allocated 16 women with menopause into an aerobic exercise group (8 people) and an anaerobic exercise group (8 people) and by putting exercise programs into effect, produced the following results. 1. Melatonin hormones showed significant differences according to times of measurement [F=14.16, α<.01], and it was shown that secretion increased with aerobic exercise. 2. Growth hormones showed significant differences both by group [F=.171, α=.05] and times of measurement, and secretion was shown to increase more with anaerobic exercises. Therefore, weight training and aerobic exercise bring about sercretion increases of melatonin hormones and growth hormones and it is speculated that exercise burns fat and brings balance to hormones, the automatic nervous system, the musculoskeletal system, giving positive effects to physical self-support maintenance of women with menopause.
