청년실업 뉴스보도에 대한 비판적 담론분석: <조선일보>와 <한겨레>를 중심으로

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 청년실업에 대한 뉴스보도를 분석하여 담론의 언어적 의미 생산방식과 사회적 실천의 함의를 도출하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 한국 언론의 청년실업 담론을 페어클러프의 비판적 담론분석의 틀을 적용해 언어 텍스트 분석, 실천 영역으로서의 담론 분석, 사회적 실천 분석을 행했다. 분석 대상은 <조선일보>와 <한겨레>이다. 두 언론사의 뉴스 텍스트 비교분석은 한국의 보수 및 진보 언론이 나타내는 청년실업 담론의 의미와 사회적 실천 전략을 파악할 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 분석결과, 두 매체 모두 청년실업의 심각성 인식 및 담론 전략의 강도는 시간이 지날수록 점차 높아졌고, 주로 언어기호의 과어휘화를 통해 각 매체의 이데올로기적 성향을 드러내고 있다. 둘째, <조선일보>가 단편적 사건을 과대 해석하거나 특정 현상을 편향적으로 해석해 논조를 강화시키는 반면, <한겨레>는 청년실업 문제에 대해 다양한 현장의 목소리를 현실적인 시각으로 조명하였다. 마지막으로, 실천적 측면에서 중등교육 단계에서 직업차별에 대한 기본적 인식 변화와 청년보장제도 도입을 제안하였다. 향후 ‘청년실업’에 대한 담론과 실재대상 사이에서 나타나는 차이점을 비판적으로 분석하고 대안적 방향성 모색이 요구된다.

The objective of this study is to deduce the production method of linguistic sense about the discourse and the implication of its social practice as well by analyzing the news reported on the youth unemployment. For this, methods of discourse production and its social practice by both the right-wing press and the left-wing press were researched on the cases of discourse by the Korean press about the youth unemployment. In the analysis method, Fairclough’ analytical frame on critical discourse was applied to conduct language text analysis, discourse analysis as a practice domains and social practice analysis as well. Targeted analysis media were the Chosun Ilbo and the Hankyoreh . The significance of comparing and analyzing news text of both media is to better understand the way how the Korean right-wing and left-wing media define the discourse of youth unemployment and compose its social practice strategy. As a result of the analysis, above all, the intensity of the both media’ understanding about the seriousness and its discourse strategy for the youth unemployment had been escalated over time, while revealing each media’ own ideological tendency by means of mainly over-lexicalization of linguistic symbol. Secondly, while the Chosun Ilbo overstressed a small incident or interpreted a certain fact biased to intensify its press comment, the Hankyoreh observed the cause of the “youth unemployment” policy with a fundamental and realistic perspective. Finally, from a practical point of view, it was found that the Youth Guarantee should be introduced and the change in the basic perception of the job discrimination at the secondary education level should be attempted.
