유아영어문자지도에 대한 교사효능감이 흥미도와 문해 발달에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 영어문자지도에 대한 교사효능감이 유아의 영어흥미도와 문해 발달에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 밝히는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 서울과 경기지역 유아교육기관의 만 4세 유아 80명으로, A 집단 유아 40명은 영어 문자지도에 대한 교사효능감이 높은 교사집단 3명이 영어 문자교육을 실시하였고, B 집단 유아 40명은 영어문자지도에 대한 교사효능감이 낮은 교사집단 3명이 영어 문자교육을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 첫째, A 집단 유아들이 B 집단 유아들에 비해 전체 영어흥미도 및 하위영역인 영어에 대한 관심도와 자신감에 있어 통계적으로 유의미한 긍정적인 차이를 보였고, 영어에 대한 정서적 안정감에 있어서 평균은 상승하였지만 통계적으로 의미 있는 차이를 보이지는 못했다. 둘째, A 집단 유아들이 B 집단 유아들에 비해 전체 영어 문해능력 및 하위영역인 알파벳인지, 단어인지, 파닉스, 쓰기, 이해 능력에 있어 통계적으로 유의미한 긍정적인 차이를 보였고, 음소인식 능력에 있어서 평균은 상승하였지만 통계적으로 의미 있는 차이를 보이지는 못했다. 결론적으로, 영어문자지도에 대한 교사효능감은 유아의 영어흥미도 및 영어 문해 발달에 대체적으로 긍정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났으며, 영어 문자지도에 있어 교사효능감을 높일 수 있는 교사교육 프로그램이 필요하다는 것을 시사한다.

The purpose of the present study was to examine the effects of young children's English interest and English literacy abilities by teacher's efficacy about English literacy teaching. The subjects were 80 young children and their six teachers, three of the teachers ranked high and three ranked low on teachers' efficacy scales about English literacy teaching in kindergartens and a day care center. The process was composed of pre-investigation, experimental treatments of 8 weeks, and post-investigation in order. The results of this study could be summarized as follows. Firstly, the young children in the experimental group which learned English literacy from teachers who have high teacher's efficacy made a statistically significant difference in children's English interest and such lower factors, English concern and confidence. Secondly, the young children in the experimental group made a statistically significant difference in children's English literacy abilities and such lower factors, alphabet recognition, word recognition, phonics, writing, comprehension. In conclusion, it is found that teacher's efficacy about English literacy teaching has influence on children's English interest and English literacy abilities.
