게임물등급분류와 실무상 문제점 - 온라인게임을 중심으로-

Abstract

The Promotion Act on Game Industry gives the process and standards on Game Rating System. According to the Act, Game Rating is classified by everyone, 12 years old, 15 years old, 18 years old and denial. More, Game Rating Board(GRB) considers special conditions on online game by providing provisions about patch and testing version of game. However, despite of these provisions, some complaints about game rating system occurs. For exemple, when game providers apply for everyone rating on their games, they are classified by 12 years old or 15 years old. Then they have a question that Game Rating Board observes the standards and rule of Game Rating. If GRB could not answer the question, the position of GRB and the system of Game Ration itself would be upset. This article analyzed the process and statistics figures on game rating consultation of GRB, and discussed about the problems of game rating through survey of cases, then proposed the improvement in Game Rating System. This article is written for the purpose reducing the gap between GRB and game porviders about rating system in the light of one year experience by the member of GRB. I hope this study would be a helpful to offer the proper information about Game Rating System.
