The Research on a Parliamentary Debate Teaching Methodology for Enhancing Business Communication Education

Abstract

Published practical methodologies for teaching parliamentary debate in business education to university students in Korea are virtually nonexistent. This research suggests a comprehensively detailed instructional methodology explaining how to effectively teach parliamentary debate to (business major) Korean university students. It offers a complete explanation of teaching methods and an analysis of the effectiveness pertaining to learner outcomes. Case study observations and quantitative analysis justify the high level of student skill development. Participation in parliamentary debate develops a wide array of Business Communication skills and a wide variety of other practical & academic skills including general English skills, critical thinking, leadership, public speaking, understanding of societal ethics, etc. Therefore, we argue that our methodology is an effective tool for teaching parliamentary debate by many instructors in Business Communication education.

의회식 토론을 경영 교육에서 효과적으로 한국의 대학생들에게 교육하기 위해 제시된 실용적인 방법론은 아직 존재하지 않고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 논리적 토론 방식을 효과적으로 한국 대학생들에게 교육하기 위한 상세하고 이해하기 쉬운 교육 방법론을 게시하고자 한다. 또한, 본 연구는 학생들에 대한 효과적인 교육 방법과 교육 성과의 효율성을 분석하는 것에 대한 상세한 정보를 제공한다. 사례연구 관찰 및 정성적 분석을 통해 학생들의 능력 향상을 검증하였다. 의회식 토론에 참여하는 것은 학생들의 비즈니스 커뮤니케이션 능력을 개발하고, 기본적 영어 능력, 논리적 사고, 리더쉽, 연설, 사회적 윤리에 대한 이해 등을 포함하는 또 다른 실용적이고 학술적인 능력을 향상시킨다. 따라서, 본 연구에서 제시하는 방법론은 경영교육의 교육자들이 의회식 토론을 교육하는데 활용할 수 있는 효과적인 도구라고 주장한다.
