성인학습이론에서의 경험의 본질에 관한 연구: Fenwick의 관점을 중심으로

Abstract

경험은 주어진 것 또는 외부 물체들에 의해 새겨지는 인상으로, 이들에 대한 기억으로부터 지식이 구성되며, 지식은 경험을 통해서 얻어진다. Knowles의 Andragogy, Kolb의 경험학습, Mezirow의 전환학습 및 SchÖn의 성찰학습 등 성인학습 이론들은 경험이 학습의 원천임을 강조하고 있다. 경험이 인식과 이해, 해석을 통해 어떻게 새로운 인식을 형성하는가 하는 경험의 본질을 해석하기 위하여 Fenwick의 인지의 과정에 대한 ① 성찰(구성주의 관점), ② 간섭(정신분석학적 관점), ③ 참여(상황적 관점), ④ 저항(비판적 문화 관점), ⑤ 동시발생(활동주의자 관점) 등 5가지 관점을 경험의 본질에 대한 해석기준으로 설정하였다. Knowles의 Andragogy에서 경험의 본질은 성찰, 간섭, 참여 및 저항의 관점이 나타났다. Kolb의 경험학습은 성찰의 관점만, Mezirow의 전환학습은 성찰과 저항의 관점에, SchÖn의 성찰학습은 성찰과 참여의 관점에 바탕을 두고 있음을 이해할 수 있었다. 끝으로 이 연구를 통해서 성인의 경험들이 본질에 따라 각기 다른 관점으로 해석되어 학습에 영향을 미치고 있음을 알 수 있다.

Human knowledge is gained through experience. Experience is emphasized as the source of learning in the adult learning theories such as Knowles' Andragogy, Kolb's experiential learning, Mezirow's transformative learning, Schön's reflective learning. This study has reinterpreted the nature of experience which is emphasized in the adult learning theories from five different perspectives by Fenwick : ① reflection (the constructivist perspective), ② interference (the perspective of psychoanalysis), ③ participation (the perspective of situated cognition), ④ resistance (the critical cultural perspective), ⑤ co-emergence (the activist perspective). As a result, the study shows that Knowles' Andragogy is based on the nature of reflection, interference, participation, and resistance. In the case of Kolb's experiential learning theory, the nature of reflection is its basis, and Mezirow's transformative learning theory has its foundation on the nature of reflection and resistance. Schön's reflective learning theory is based on the nature of reflection. In this research, we can understand adult learning that nature of experience affect learning.
