사회자본이 국가경쟁력에 미치는 영향: 한･중･일 3국민의 시민의식 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 사회자본이 국가경쟁력에 미치는 영향을 검증하였다. 동양을 대표하는 한국, 중국, 일본 3국간 비교를 통해 사회자본 유형별 다음과 같은 특징을 발견하였다. ① 대인신뢰는 국가경쟁력을 구성하는 모든 지표에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다. 따라서 국가경쟁력 향상을 위해서는 기본적으로 일반인을 중심으로 한 대인신뢰 증진이 필요하다. ② 참여 유형별 영향에 있어서는 수직적 단체참여는 국가경쟁력에 긍정적이기도 하고 부정적이기도 한 반면 수평적 단체참여는 긍정적 영향을 미친다. 따라서 국가경쟁력 향상을 위해서는 수평적 단체참여가 필요할 것이나, 경우에 따라서는 수직적 단체참여 역시 필요할 것이다. ③ 네트워크 유형별 영향에 있어서는 폐쇄적 네트워크는 국가경쟁력 인식과 인과성이 없거나 부정적 영향을 미치나, 개방적 네트워크는 긍정적 영향을 미친다. 따라서 국가경쟁력 향상을 위해서는 폐쇄적 네트워크를 개방적 네트워크로 전환할 수 있는 노력이 필요하다.

This study examines some researcher's findings that social capital has an influence on national competitiveness. It compares citizen perception of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese on social capital and national competitiveness. It assumes that the relationships between social capital and national competitiveness in Asian countries have both of similarities and differences to those of Western countries because social capital is a part of culture. More than 2,300 surveys are used for data in Korea, China, and Japan. This research findings include that ① hierarchical group membership is higher than horizontal group membership in all three countries. ② Chinese perception on national competitiveness is higher than other countries, while Japanese perception is lower. ③ Personal trust has an influence on national competitiveness in Korea and China. ④ Horizontal group membership has a positive impact on national competitiveness in all three countries, while hierarchical group membership has a positive influence on the competitiveness only in Korea. ⑤ Open network has a positive impact on national competitiveness in all countries. However, closed network has a negative impact on national competitiveness in Korea and China, while the network has no impact on the competitiveness in Japan.
