- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between children's literacy ability and sense of self-esteem․social ability. The subjects used in this study were 160, 5 year-old children who attended kindergartens. The mean age of the subjects was 69.83 months. 'The Construction Meaning Comprehension Test', 'Skill Situations Measure,' and 'Children's self-esteem Scale' were used in collection of the data. It also used basic statistics, correlation coefficients, and structural equation modeling analysis, and path analysis to analyze the date. The results of this study are as follows; first, there were positive correlations between children's literacy abilities sense of self-esteem․social ability. Second, social ability directly affected literacy .Especially the indirect effect between self-esteem and literacy ability was mediated by social ability. In conclusion, there are positive relationships between children's literacy abilities sense of self-esteem․social ability. And social ability has the strongest and most direct effect on literacy ability for young children.
