- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to indicate sex equity and role in school physical education textbook that developed on the basis of the 7th national curriculum. For this, the frequence and percentage of sex ratio in 37 textbooks are analyzed and the content analysis is conducted using deductive analysis. The results have showed that there is a significant difference in physical education textbooks in elementary and secondary levels. The sex ratio is almost same in elementary level, whereas the sex ratio is not same in secondary level. That is, the male ratio is bigger than the female ratio in secondary textbooks. Additionally, there still exists the sex stereotyped image and role in school textbooks. In order to promote the sex equity in physical education textbooks, the number of female textbook developer should be increased and the national standards of sex equity in textbooks are needed.
