- Abstract
- Organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) are expected to play a key role in future printed electronics. As a promising candidate for numerous commercial applications and next-generation electronics, organic small molecule/polymer blend systems have attracted significant interest. Herein, recent developments and progress in polymer blends based on small molecule semiconductors and polymers for OTFTs are discussed with a focus on device operation, solution processing, phase separation, and semiconductor blend system morphologies. The blends exhibit promising characteristics, combining the high charge-carrier mobility of small molecules, solution-based processability of polymers, and unique morphological features of their blends. Both insulating and conjugated polymers are separately reviewed to discuss the effects of polymeric components on the charge transport properties, film quality, and morphology. The outlook for this field along with future opportunities and challenges are also discussed. © 2020
