Abstract
Herein, cesium ion-exchanged Y-type zeolite (CsY) of needles-shape was attached on the surface of spinel lithium manganese oxide (LMO). The prepared material was applied to a lithium-ion battery cathode. While the reversible capacity remained similar, significant improvement of initial efficiency and rate capability were observed. Furthermore, cycling performance at high temperature was enhanced when compared with conventional LMO cathodes. This enhancement was possibly due to the acid scavenging effect of the alumina component in Y zeolite and the ion exchange of CsY zeolite with dissolved manganese ions.
