- Abstract
- In a recent paper by Hauser and Tadikamalla (Hauser, D., Tadikamalla, P., 1996. The analytic hierarchy process in an uncertain environment: A simulation approach. European Journal of Operational Research 91, 27-37), a simulation approach in the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is suggested, when point estimates are difficult to determine. Using simulation, they demonstrate that levels of confidence can be developed and expected weights and expected ranks can be determined. This short communication is intended not for a critical viewpoint of the approach, but for suggestion of a possible alternative to group decision making context, using the concept suggested by Hauser and Tadikamalla.
