Abstract
This study is designed to find out the exchange of dramas between Korea and Russia for the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The exchange of drama between the two countries started in 1988 when the Eastern European countries started to open their doors. At that time, the Korean drama industry turned its focus from Anglo-America and Western Europe to Russia. In the 1990s, the drama industries of the two countries started to contact each other through the international arts centers and Russian theater troupes made frequent visits to Korea. The frequent returns of Korean students who studied drama in Russia during the late 1990s to the early 2000s to Korea have helped the Korean drama industry to be filled with Russian playwrights. In addition, these days, Russian drama has occupied a large portion of the Korean drama industry. In details, the study focused on how the Russian dramas were introduced to and took root in Korean theaters and what kind of impact the Russian theater made on the Korean theater world.
