동자동 쪽방 주민의 생활경험과 주민관계에 관한 질적 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 동자동 쪽방지역 주민들의 생활경험과 주민들과의 관계의 의미를 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 쪽방에 거주하는 연구 참여자들을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시한 결과 3개의 구성요소와 7개의 하위구성요소가 분석되었다. 쪽방의 주거생활에 대해 연구 참여자들은 불편해도 ‘노숙보다는 나은’ 공간이라는 안도감을 느끼고 있으며, ‘다른 대안이 없기에 살아갈 수밖에 없는’ 공간으로 인식하며 생활하고 있었다. 또한 쪽방은 ‘사생활과 공동생활이 모호할 수밖에 없는 공간’이었고 ‘아픔이 있지만 살아가야 하는 사람들’이 자신의 삶도, 타인의 삶도 포용해야 살아갈 수 있는 공간이었다. 마지막으로 동자동 쪽방지역은 오래전 ‘주민들을 살펴주던 누군가 손길’이 불씨가 되어 자신이 ‘받았던 도움을 다른 이웃에게 되갚는 사람들’이 늘어나면서 ‘주민들과의 유대감이 강화’되었다. 이 연구 결과를 바탕으로 한 정책제언은 다음과 같다. 쪽방지역 정책에 대해 접근하는데 있어 주민들의 의견을 고려한 접근이 필요하며, 주민의 의사를 반영한 주거환경개선이나 리모델링 등의 저렴한 임대형숙박공간의 확보가 필요하다. 또한 빈곤층의 주민관계강화 방안으로 주민 자치조직에 대한 지원·확대가 요구되며, 쪽방, 노숙과 같은 취약주거로의 진입을 예방하기 위해 일시적인 거처가 필요한 사람들을 위한 저렴한 임시주거공간을 확보해야 한다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning of residential life and Resident Relationship of the living in Jjok-bang area in Dongja-dong.As a result of the in-depth interviews with the experience of life in Jjok-bang, three elements and seven sub-elements were identified. The study participants are relieved that it is a 'better space than sleeping out in the open even though it is uncomfortable and recognize it as the space where they must reside because they don’t have other alternatives. The Jjok-bang is a space that private life and communal life are mixed ambiguously, and the people who are heart-broken but have to live their lives must embrace the lives of others as well as their own lives. Finally, it is analyzed that the community fellowship in the Jjok-bang area in Dongja-dong has been enhanced because someone started to help the poor people a long time ago and those who were helped have been repaying the kindness to other poor people. According to the findings, the current policy approach to the Jjok-bang area should be conducted from the perspectives of the residents, and it is necessary to secure cheep rent-basis accommodation space by improving the residential environment or remodeling the Jjok-bang considering their opinions. On the other hand, it is required that the support for the resident autonomy organization should be expanded, and the cheep temporary residential space should be secured for the people who can’t help moving in vulnerable houses such as homelessness.
