敍事文學에 나타난 돼지의 神聖性과 世俗性

Abstract

The pig was introduced into East Asian culture symbolizing the sacred birth of characters. There were some examples of the half-man-half-beast pig in mythology of <Sanhaekyeong>, the pig involved with the scholar, Wang in <Sooshingi> and the pig in mythology of the Mongolian tribe; Kirghiz. Pig also appeared in the Korean historical folk tales and fiction narrative novels. It was represented as the sacred and mysterious object. In the early historical narrative novels, pig was related to the emperor which was the sacred object of sacrificial offering when the capital was designated or transferred, when the king was born, and when it was a sacrificial day. On the contrary, there are two sides of positive and negative characteristics in the fictional narrative literature. One is the root of lucky omen and fortune, the other is the target of greed and politics. The former is more related to the belief for the luck. In the latter case,pig’s characteristic has ideology. Especially, <Isumoonjeon> was strongly affected by Confucianism. To sum it up, the sacred pig of the early historical narrative novels was related to the emperor or national ceremony and regarded as the divine object. The pig has dual characteristics affected by folk’s wish and certain ideology in the fictional narrative literature which was generated in the much later date.
