스탑모션 애니메이션을 위한 핫 폼과 실리콘 캐릭터 제작 연구 - 캐릭터 제작 과정을 중심으로-

Abstract

스톱모션 캐릭터 애니메이션(stop-motion animation)에서 인형을 제작할 때는 어떤 재료를 사용하여 만들지 정해야 한다. 작품의 이야기와 이미지에 맞는 재료를 사용하는데 그 재료들 가운데 많이 사용되는 재료인 핫 폼과 실리콘에 대해 알아보았다. 그리고 그 재료를 사용해 만든 캐릭터들의 완성도를 높이기 위해 제작 과정을 알아보고 문제점을 찾아 보완하는 방법을 연구하였다. 같은 재료를 두고도 캐릭터 제작자의 비법과 실력에 따라 완성도 차이가 심하다. 핫 폼과 실리콘과 같이 화학 물질로 이뤄진 재료들을 만들기 위해서는 재료의 특성에 대해 공부하고 제작 연구를 해야 한다. 인형 제작은 어떻게 캐릭터를 제작해야 한다는 정해진 방법은 없다. 이 재료를 사용해 만들어본 제작자들이 방법을 바꿔 계속 연구하기 때문이다. 인형 제작 과정은 더 완성작인 캐릭터를 만들기 위해 계속 변하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 현재 이 재료를 사용해 만드는 제작 과정을 설명했고 그 이상을 제작하기 위해 연구한 결과를 내놓았다.

In order to produce a stop motion animation character, it must be painted to be designed and its materials must be selected before production. Among the materials used for the animation story and image, I looked into the advantages and disadvantages of hot form and silicon. In order to enhance the degree of completion of such materials based characters, then, I researched the production process and found out the problems in such production to study how to supplement such problems. Even same material varies in completion degree of characters depending on character producers. It must be the producers' know-how and capability that cause such different completion degrees. It is, therefore, required to study the characteristics of the materials and production if you want to make a character based on such chemical substances as hot form and silicon. There is, however, not yet any exact method to produce a character based on such materials because the producers have kept changing their methods using such materials. Character production process keeps changing to make the more completed character. In this study, therefore, I explained about the production process using such materials and showed the study results for the better production.
