Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of peer dyad-group activity on young children's kindergarten adjustment ability, sociality and language ability. The subjects used in this study were fifty six 5 year-old children who attended a kindergarten in Gyeonggi-do. The mean age of the subjects was 67.61 months. The experimental group participated in the peer dyad-group activity, while the control group participated in the general group activity. ‘The Preschool Adjustment Questionnaire (PAQ: Jewsuwan, Luster, & Kostelnik, 1993)’, ‘The Bronson Social and Task Skill Profile (Bronson, 1985)’ and ‘The Construction Meaning Comprehension Test (Seoul Community Rehabilitation Center, 2009)’ were used in the collection of data. t-test or ANCOVA were also used to analyze the data. It was revealed that there were significant differences between the experimental group and control group in the post-test scores. The scores of the experimental group in the young children's kindergarten adjustment ability, sociality and language ability were significantly higher than the scores of the control group. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that the peer dyad-group activity is effective in promoting young children's kindergarten adjustment ability, sociality and language ability.
