다문화가정 부모의 문화변용과 자녀교육관에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 우리나라가 세계화의 흐름 속에 다문화 사회로의 진입이 가속화됨에 따라 우리나라에 거주하는 다문화가정의 어머니 가운데 유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니를 대상으로 부모의 문화변용과 자녀교육관을 탐색하고자 하였다. 즉, 다문화 가정 어머니의 개인적 특성에 따른 자녀교육관을 살펴보고 국가별 어머니들의 거주기간에 따른 문화변용과 자녀교육관의 양상을 알아보았다. 본 연구의 대상은 국내에 거주하는 7세 미만 자녀를 둔 한국 어머니 및 중국, 일본, 몽골, 베트남출신의 다문화가정 어머니로 총 385명을 대상으로 자녀교육관 비교·분석을 위하여 설문을 실시하였고 또한 심층자료 수집을 위해 포커스집단 인터뷰를 병행 실시하여 거주기간에 따른 자녀교육관의 양상을 이해하고 분석하였다. 연구결과, 다문화가정의 국가 별 어머니들은 거주기간에 따른 문화변용은 통합이 이상적이라는 보고가 있으나 실제 한국 거주기간이 오래될수록 동화로의 문화 변용의 변화가 나타났다. 다문화가정의 어머니들의 자녀교육관 양상은 자신의 교육신념을 자녀가 따르기를 바라고 거주기간이 오래될수록 자녀에게 고유 언어와 문화를 병행하기를 원하는 것으로 나타났다. 다문화가정의 어머니들은 자녀들을 위하여 인성과 사회성을 중요시하는 자녀교육관을 가지고 자녀들을 위한 다양한 교육지원 및 사회활동을 원하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이에 교육기관 및 정부는 국가별 문화변용을 고려한 교육정책 마련이 필요함을 제안한다.

This study is about to review the aspects of acculturation and view on children's education of the mothers with toddlers in multicultural families in Korea. By the transition into a cross-cultural society has been accelerating further, the process of immigrant parents' acculturation and view on children‘s education is being more needed to be examined. I reviewed the view on children’s education and the acculturation of immigrant mothers based on their individual traits by the length of residence. 385 mothers with less than 7 year old children had participated for this study. Some of them are native Korean, others from China, Japan, Mongolia and Vietnam. They filled out the questionnaires in terms of the view on children‘s education. Along with the questionnaires, I interviewed a focus group in order to profiling further data in terms of the title of this study. In results, all immigrant participants showed assimilation more than integration in their acculturation over time, whereas integration is theoretically ideal amongst the acculturation aspects. In the view on children’s education. The immigrant mothers want their children to accept what they believe in education, and showed that they want the children to maintain their own language and cultural bases as they stay longer. It revealed that the immigrant mothers stress on their children‘s upright character and sociality, and that they want supports educational programs and social activities in terms of what they stress on. I, therefore, suggest governmental supports for educational policies in which immigrant parents' acculturation are considered along with country by country.
