- Abstract
- This paper presents fire and thermal runway characteristics of lithum ion battery. In order to analyze fire and thermal runway characteristics of lithum the fire experiment is conducted according to shape type such as cylindrical, pouch and square. The fire experiment is conducted to attain the stage thermal runway of lithum ion battery placed on the hot plate with rate of rise temperature of (4 ~ 7)℃/min. The SOC(state of charge) of lithum ion battery using fire experiment is 100%. The volume of fire experimental chamber is appximately 3.3㎥. The results show that thermal runway of lithum ion battery occurs in order of pouch, cylindrical, and square shape and the batteries are produced a high temperature. So the shape of lithum ion battery and fire hazards are not related.
