Abstract
We give a brief overview of the new paradigm for light dark-matter in the representative example of the so-called Strongly Interacting Massive Particles (SIMPs) and the concrete particle-physics models realizing it. We first explain the model-independent general conditions for SIMP dark-matter and discuss some recently proposed models for SIMP dark-matter, such as dark mesons and new fundamental scalars with discrete gauged symmetries. Dark U(1) gauge symmetry can be introduced to guarantee the stability of dark matter. Furthermore, the corresponding gauge boson of the dark U(1) may cause dark-matter to be in kinetic equilibrium with SM particles during the freeze-out. The possibilities of detecting SIMP dark matter at underground and collider experiments are discussed. © 2016, Korean Physical Society. All rights reserved.
