- Abstract
- For vibration isolation, coil spring has been widely used because it can provide the low system natural frequency. Since coil spring does not have energy dissipation property, viscous fluid damper using silicon oil is widely used to provide the damping property to coil spring. However, there may be oil leak problem for viscous fluid damper. In this paper, vibration isolator using coil spring and polymer film has been developed and the dynamic property of the developed isolator has been experimentally investigated. In the developed isolator, polymer film was wrapped around coil spring so the polymer film can provide damping property. Damping property of the isolator was experimentally investigated based on the different film type, number of layer of the film, and the magnitude of pretension of the film before wrapping. The experimental result shows that the developed polymer film wrapped coil spring can provide the some damping performance, and may be used for industry application.
