빅 데이터 환경과 인문학적 플랫폼

Abstract

이 글은 빅 데이터에 대한 사회적 관심에서 출발한다. 특히 인간의 인문학적 사유 방식과 빅 데이터라는 과학기술의 환경적 변화와의 융합적 관계를 재정립하는 것이 이 글의 궁극적인 목적이다. 이러한 목적을 수행하기 위해 나는 우선 빅 데이터의 분석, 특히 텍스트 마이닝과 인문학을 중심으로 빅 데이터에 등장하는 인문학에 대한 표상들에 관심을 두었다. 그리고 필자는 빅 데이터의 흐름이 현대 과학기술의 네 번째 패러다임이라는 점에 동의한다. 그리고 그것으로부터 고찰해 볼 수 있는 철학적 문제들과 더불어서 그것이 함축하는 의미를 “예측성”과 “합리성”이라는 개념으로 정리해 보고자 한다. 결론적으로 이 글을 통해 필자는 이러한 빅 데이터에 대한 이해과정에서 드러난 빅 데이터 환경이 지니는 한계점을 제시하고, 그것을 보조하는 대안으로 철학적 문제제기와 더불어서 인문학 플랫폼 운동을 제안한다. 이것은 현시대의 문화와 융합의 한 축으로 자리 잡을 것이다.

This article starts with a social interest in Big Data. In particular, the ultimate goal of this article is to redefine the relationship between humanistic thinking and the environmental change of science and technology. In order to accomplish this purpose, I first focused on the analysis of Big Data, especially the representations of humanities in Big Data centered on text mining and humanities. And I agree that the flow of big data is the fourth paradigm of modern science and technology. In addition to the philosophical problems that can be considered from Big Data environment, I want to summarize the implications of Big Data environment with the concept of “predictability” and “rationality”. In conclusion, this article presents the limitations of the big data environment revealed in the process of understanding Big Data, and suggests a platform of humanities along with philosophical problems as an alternative.
