유니버설 실내가구 디자인 개발 연구

Abstract

최근 빠르게 변화하는 VUCA 세계관이 중요해짐에 따라, 유니버설 디자인은 과거보다 사용자층이 매우 다양해지고 배려가 필요한 사용자층을 보조해주는 기능 외에 심리적, 감각적으로도 만족시켜줄 수 있는 경험을 제시하는 디자인 전략 구축이 필요해졌다. 시각장애인은 일반인과는 다르게 일상생활을 영위함에 있어 독립성이 낮고, 생활을 위한 다양한 도움들이 필요하나 주된 일상 생활공간인 가정 내부 환경에서 공간 활용의 주가 되는 가구 분야에는 시각장애인들을 대상으로 한 유니버설 디자인이 적용된 가구 개발 사례 연구는 매우 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 국내에서 잘 다루고 있지 않은 시각장애인 사용자들의 특수성을 고려하여 안전성, 명료성, 심미성을 가진 가구 디자인을 제안하고자 한다. 연구 방법은 체계적이고 객관적인 수치화를 통해 유니버설 디자인 달성도를 판단할 수 있는 전맹 시각장애인 대상의 사용자 중심 프로세스와 PPP평가를 적용해 진행하였다. 연구 결과 모서리의 곡률을 극대화한 안전성, 타깃 사용자 및 비장애인의 감각적 만족감을 충족하는 심미성, 시각 외 정보인 청각 사인 및 촉지 사인을 통해 서랍 칸을 직관적으로 구별할 수 있는 명료성을 강조한 디자인 가구를 렌더링하고 유니버설 디자인 달성도를 정량적으로 평가하여 장단점을 수치화해 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 체계적 방법론에 입각한 디자인 개발 사례를 통해 향후 전맹 시각장애인들에 실내생활을 배려한 제품 개발을 위한 자료로 앞으로의 유니버설 디자인 연구에 도움이 되기를 기대한다.

As the rapidly changing VUCA worldview has become more important recently, Universal Design needs to establish a design strategy that presents experiences that can satisfy psychologically and sensibly in addition to functions that vary widely and assist users in need of consideration. Unlike the general public, visually impaired people have low independence in their daily lives and need various help for their lives, but there are very few household development cases with universal design for the visually impaired in the household environment. Therefore, this study proposed a furniture design with safety, clarity, and aesthetics in consideration of the specificity of visually impaired users that are not well covered in Korea. In addition, by analyzing cases of universal indoor furniture at home and abroad for the blind, problems were identified, and design development based on user-centered processes and PPP evaluation was developed, and design furniture emphasizing safety maximizing curvature, aesthetics satisfaction of users, and quantitative evaluation of non-visual information. Through design development cases based on systematic methodology in this study, it is expected that it will be helpful in future universal design research as data for product development that considers indoor life for the blind in the future.
