- Abstract
- The effective assessment of safety performance is essential to improve the safety level of large construction firms. Recently, a few agency handling the construction safety performance has developed the model for evaluation of the construction firms' safety. However, the model is for the evaluation agency, not for the construction firms. Therefore, the model cannot be utilized for the firms to evaluate and analyze their safety performance for the improvement of their safety level. This study proposes a safety self-assessment model for the large construction firm in order to enhance their safety level. For the purpose, it is necessary that the model represent the opinion of in-house safety staff and the characteristics of the large firms. The fundamental framework for the proposed model is based on the past research(Park 2002), which is structured of evaluation criteria, weighted factor, statistical evaluation formula, and it application process. The model would help the firm management in identifying the weak areas of safety performance in terms of the degree performing certain safety tasks. It is expected that the model could contribute to achieving the "zero accident" level.
