混種 新語의 形態와 外來 要素(1)

Abstract

이 연구는 트위터에서 발견된 혼종 신어의 양상을 살피고 그것의 어휘․형태론적 의미를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 고찰의 대상이 트위터의 혼종 신어인 까닭은 혼종이라는 방식이 외래 요소를 한국어 형태소화하는 주요한 기제이며, 트위터는 바로 이 혼종을 통한 신어 형성이 매우 역동적으로 일어나는 공간이기 때문이다. 이를 위해 먼저 트위터에서 발견된 신어의 어종과 형태를 분석하였다. 이러한 작업을 통해 트위터 신어의 가장 두드러진 형태라 할 약어에 대하여 고찰하였다. 약어는 형식 삭감의 과정을 거치는데, 이 과정에서 삭감되지 않고 남은 것은 의미와 관련된다고 보고, 따라서 의미를 담을 수 있는 한국어 음절은 그것의 기원과는 무관하게 한국어 형태소의 지위를 얻을 가능성이 있다고 보았다. 혼종 신어 고찰을 통해 한국어 형태소화가 진행 중이거나 진행될 것으로 보이는 외래 요소를 정리하고 이들 외래 요소 중 일음절 형태가 한국어 형태소화의 정도가 높을 것으로 판단하였다.

This study aims to investigate the aspects of hybrid words by focusing on “discovered newly coined words” found on Twitter . This is because word formation is an important mechanism in converting Western elements into Korean morphemes and also because Twitter is the platform where words are coined most dynamically through word formation. For this study, the characteristics of newly coined words were first discussed, and the word types and forms of newly coined words found on Twitter were analyzed. Through this procedure, abbreviated words, the most dominant form of newly coined words on Twitter, were examined. Abbreviated words go through the process of clipping, and the parts that remain after clipping stay intact because of their original meaning. Thus, it can be inferred that a Korean syllable that conveys meaning can attain the status of a Korean morpheme, regardless of its origin . This study compiled a list of Western elements that are becoming or could become Korean morphemes, and it was decided that monosyllabic foreign elements were more likely to become Korean morphemes.
