Abstract
This study was to examine the career decision-making differences on parental career-related behaviors, career explorations, and career decision difficulties, and the direct and indirect effects of parental career-related behaviors and career explorations on career decision difficulties, and to explore multi-group differences of these relations between career decision group and career indecision group. The subjects were 355 university students in Seoul, Korea. Results were as follows. Firstly, parental career-related behaviors, career explorations and career indecision showed significant correlations among each other. Secondly, there were significant career decision-making differences on parental career-related behaviors, career explorations and career indecision. Thirdly, the structural equation model for the participants supported that parental career-related behaviors had direct and indirect effects on students’ career decision difficulties. Also, students’ career explorations mediated between parental career-related behaviors and career decision difficulties. As a result of multi-group analysis, the influence of parental career-related behaviors on students’ career explorations was stronger in career decision group than career indecision group. Implications of the study were discussed in depth.
