- Abstract
- Transcriptional co-activator p300/CBP proteins are involved in various signaling events in the transcriptional processes of proliferation and differentiation. p300/CBP activity can be under aberrant control in many human disease including cancer. The transcriptional regulatory properties of p300/CBP appear to be working through multiple mechanisms. p300/CBP act as protein mediators connecting different transcription factors to the transcriptional machinery. Also , the key property is the presence of histone acetyltransferase(HAT)activity, which can influence chromatin activity by modulating histones. Further research of p300/CBP will continue yield important information on fundamental process involved in transcriptional regulation.
