Abstract
In this paper the design of 15kV, 1.5kJ/s high voltage capacitor charger on the basis of LCC resonant converter is discussed. The LCC resonant converter is designed to operate in continuous conduction mode(CCM), allowing for zero-voltage switching. With appropriate resonant parameters, resonant current was improved thus reducing conduction loss. The high frequency and high voltage transformers were designed using multiple ring-shaped cores for effective air insulation. The proposed high voltage capacitor charger is verified by a resistive load test of rated performance and capacitor charging test.
