광양항의 대중국 환적화물 유치전략

Abstract

Due to recent environment for shipping and port, such as bigger ship size and more fase speed of ship, competiotiom among port is fierce. The economic effects of transhipment cargo handing on domestic economics are of importance. Therefore most countries are making great efforts to attract those cargoes supporting for economic incentives such as reduction of terminal handing cargoes and extention of free time at port. Kwangyang port is ideally situated to attract transhipment cargoes from/to China, particularly northern part og Shanghai port, mosr of them have some limits to deepen dratf necessaru to accommodate over 5th generation containership. This paper aims to suggest some strategies for attracting transhipment cargoes for Kwangwang port to become a hub-port in Northeast Asia. The impor points suggested by the author are as follwoing: First, to maintain current tatiff level, lower than Busan port Second, to activate aggressive marketing for shipping companies, shippers, forwarders ect. Third, to enforce strategic alliance with foreign shipping companies Fourth, to open the Korea-China shipping route Fifth, to establish free trade zone or txa-free zomn However before considering the attraction of transhipment cargoes from Chinese ports, we sugeest the mid and long term master plan to supply more port facilities especially storage sapce.
