Abstract
With the emergence of XML as the standard for data exchange on the Internet, active research is under way for storing and querying XML data efficiently. In this paper, we deal with XML, query caching with the RDBMS employed as XML store. The problem investigated in this paper is efficient deferred incremental refresh of the SQL result set cached for XML query result against the accumulated updates done to the underlying XML source. As proof of concept, the proposed method were implemented in Java with Oracle 9i, resulting in a prototype XML storage system that supports query caching running on Windows 2000 Server. The experimental results revealed that our proposed method for deferred incremental refresh of XML query cache was very efficient.
