트위터의 일본 방사능 위험 정보가 낙관적 편향에 미치는 영향: 집단주의 성향의 조절적 역할을 중심으로

Abstract

최근 온라인 SNS를 통해 다양한 위험 정보가 유통되는 현실을 고려하여 본 연구에서는 트위터를 통해 전달되는 위험 정보가 낙관적 편향에 미치는 영향을 대학생을 대상으로 하는 설문 실험을 통해 살펴보았다. 실험에서는 일본 방사능 유출 사고의 후유증에 대한 내용을 담은 트위터 메시지가 처치물로 사용되었다. 연구 결과, 트위터 위험 정보를 접한 연구 참여자는 전반적으로 자신보다는 타인이 더욱 위험하다고 판단하는 낙관적 편향을 보였다. 그러나 이러한 낙관적 편향의 크기는 일정하지 않았으며 개인의 집단주의 성향과 예시 유형의 상호작용 그리고 집단주의 성향과 정보원 신뢰도의 상호작용에 의해 변화했다. 추가적인 분석 결과, 이러한 변화는 주로 자신보다는 타인에 대한 위험 인식의 변화 때문에 발생하는 것으로 나타났다.

Recently, the amount of risk information being circulated through SNS is increasing fast. Considering this, the current study examines the influence of Twitter risk information on optimistic bias. An experiment was conducted in which college students were exposed to the Japan radiation risk information in the form of Twitter messages. It was found that the participants showed optimistic bias but the amount varied with the conditions of other variables. Collectivism moderated the effects of the exemplification type and source credibility by mainly affecting the judgment of others risk.
