- Abstract
- This article traces how the U.S. has shaped the international relations of the Korean Peninsular ever since the late 19th century; and examines how the historical legacies of imperialism and the Cold War has molded the Post-Cold War conflicts between Korean nationalism and American Hegemony, and between North Korea and the United States. Under this broad historical perspective, this article then reviews four books on the North Korean nuclear rises by comparing their different perspectives on the causes of the crises and different policy prescriptions for peace in the Korean Peninsula.
