- Abstract
- In China, discussing the contemporary significance of director Jia Zhangke and his films cannot leave the topic of "Town Youth". His film uses a variety of expressions to collage and realist narrative methods to blur the reality. The perspective of "Town Youth" shows a contemporary China but also unfamiliar and realistic. This article introduces the "thick description" concept of ethnographic research, looks for details from different film texts in different periods of Jia Zhangke, analyzes the modern landscape and era fables shown in the film, and tries to use the metaphor theory on the basis of sorting out the film's narrative content. And then summarize the philosophical significance behind the narrative details.
