- Abstract
- This paper demonstrates that carbon nanotube peapods can be applied to a nano-electro-emitter when encapsulated endo-fullerenes are electro-emitted from the carbon nanotube under applied external electric fields. Our molecular dynamics simulations showed that the C-60 molecules were easily electro-emitted from the carbon nanotube when the applied electric fields were above 0.1 V/Angstrom whereas they were occasionally electro-emitted from the carbon nanotube when the applied electric fields were below 0.05 V/Angstrom. When the applied electric fields were 0.05 to 0.09 V/Angstrom, the initial configurations, the initial velocities, and the number of encapsulated C-60 molecules were found to affect the electro-emission Of C-60 Molecules as much as the applied electric fields did.
