Abstract
On the other hand modernization of Korea which lacked healthy labour ethics and self-grown modern culture is being advanced rapidly under the initiative of the officialdom and work for building modern human prototype suitable to capitalistic wage labour system is being also carried out by leadership of the government. And it becomes more specific by educational policy which is rooted in rational human type of Western production mode as a model. As such ideology of labour being instilled systematically to Korean people since 1960s majority of them became part of capitalistic labour force. In consequence living condition of majority of Koreans deteriorated seriously(in particular in terms of labour hours and intensity of labour) and such fact has been reflected to overall leisure relationship in Korea. Level of satisfaction with leisure also declined steeply. Reason of such dissatisfaction was mostly for 'lack of time' and 'lack of money'. In particular majority of people who belong to higher social and economic strata(executive, administrative type, clerical and technical type as well as high income group) said 'lack of time' as a major cause of dissatisfaction with their leisure life.On the other hand from second half of 1980s Koreans' viewpoint on labour began to show slight changes. In particular with young people at its center they began to display 'avoidance of difficult works, 'avoidance of working on Sundays' and 'hypertrophy of service type of works'. Such phenomena mean new generation's shifting direction of their life style toward 'enjoying life' away from older generation's life style of being dragged into forced labour by concentrating to survival in the course of modernization since 1960s.
