- A Study on the Buried Cultural Assets Protection System of Improvement PlanHeo, Soo-JoongBuried cultural assets are also important. According to the Cultural Assets Protection Law, those which were hidden under the sea, cannot be excavated. But, it can be permitted under Cultural Assets Chief `s allowance, the purpose of study or under construction. The construction company pays the cost of excavation.The excavated cultural assets belong to not an individual but the government. Then the person can receive compensation. The excavated cultural assets are kept in National Center Museum or Local National Museum. Now, there are lack of archaeologists who have qualifications for excavating buried assets, institutions and budget in Korea.The government should take measures in order to realize a cultural nation.Cultural Assets Protection Law should be amended which bears expenses to construction corporation.The government should not invest only a small scale land development but also a large scale land development.Moreover, many buried cultural assets are found in development of cities. In development of new cities, a report of an investigation should be written out and fied surveyed before the construction. Cultural assets should not be demolished by developing cities. It is our important duty to hand over the preserved buried cultural assets to our descendants.
