중국 창업가의 낙관주의 성격과 벤처 성과

Abstract

미국·유럽 등 서구 연구자들은 창업가들의 낙관주의적인 심리적 편향성이 벤처 성과에 미치는 영향을 다양한 관점에서 다루었다. 이에 반하여, 벤처 창업의 역사가 짧은 중국에서는 아직 이에 대한 연구가 빈약하다. 본 연구의 목적은 중국의 창업가들을 대상으로 하여, 창업가의 낙관주의 성격과 벤처 성과 간의 관계를 조사하고, 창업 경험과 창업 산업환경의 역동성이 미치는 조절효과도 알아보고자 한다. 본고는 선행연구와 설문조사를 기반으로 3개의 가설을 설정하고, 가설을 검증하여 학문적 의미를 도출하고자 하였다. 중국의 창업가360명을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하였고, 회귀분석을 통해 독립변수와 종속변수 간의 관계를 분석하고 조절변수의 효과도 살펴보았다. 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 창업가의 낙관주의 성격이 강할수록 벤처 성과에 부(-)의 영향을 미칠 것이라는 가설이 지지 되었다. 둘째, 창업 경험은 창업가의 낙관적 성격과 벤처 성과 간의 부(-)의 관계를 더 강화한다는 가설이 지지 되었다. 셋째, 창업 산업환경의 역동성은 창업가의 낙관주의 성격과 벤처 성과 간의 부(-)의 관계를 더 강화한다는 가설이 지지 되었다. 이에 사회 인지적 관점은 개인의 성향, 행동 및 창업 산업환경 요인 간의 복잡한 상호작용을 설명하였다. 이러한 결과를 통해 본 연구는 창업가의 낙관주의 성격이 벤처 내부 갈등과 기능 장애를 유발할 수 있다는 가능성을 제시하며, 창업 산업환경에서의 통찰력을 제공하고, 창업가들의 경영 전략과 태도에영향을 미치는 요인들을 이해하는 데에 도움이 될 것이다.

This study examines the relationship between entrepreneurial optimism and venture performance in a sample of Chinese entrepreneurs. It aims to explore the moderating effects of entrepreneurial experience and the dynamics of the entrepreneurial industry environment on this relationship. Based on previous studies and surveys, this paper formulates three hypotheses, tests the hypotheses, and draws academic implications. An online survey was conducted among 360 entrepreneurs in China, and regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship between independent and dependent variables, as well as the effects of moderating variables. The results of this study are as follows First, the hypothesis that stronger entrepreneurial optimism will have a (-)negative impact on venture performance is supported. Second, the hypothesis that entrepreneurial experience strengthens the (-)negative relationship between entrepreneurial optimism and venture performance is supported. Third, the hypothesis that the dynamism of the entrepreneurial industry environment will further strengthen the (-)negative relationship between entrepreneurial optimism and venture performance is supported. Thus, the social cognitive perspective explains the complex interaction between individual dispositions, behaviors, and entrepreneurial industry environment factors. These findings suggest that entrepreneurs' optimistic personality may lead to intra-venture conflict and dysfunction, providing insights into the entrepreneurial environment and helping to understand the factors that influence entrepreneurs' management strategies and attitudes.
