미디어 디지털화에 따른 지역방송 기자들의 특종에 대한 인식 변화 연구

Abstract

저널리즘의 정점으로 평가되어 온 특종은 최초 보도, 독창성, 심층성, 신뢰성, 사회 변화에 미치는 영향력 등의 요소로 구성된다. 정보통신기술의 발달과 미디어의 디지털화라는 환경 변화에 따라 지역방송 취재 여건은 물론 개별 특종 요소의 비중과 가치 부여도 영향을 받게 된다. 이 연구는 디지털화로 인해 상대적으로 열악한 여건에 놓여 있는 지역방송 기자들의 특종에 대한 인식 변화를 탐구하였다. 지역방송의 기자들은 특종에 관해 저널리즘의 일반적 기준과 대동소이한 인식을 갖고 있으면서, 서울 언론사들에 비해 지역 기사가 저평가되는 포털 뉴스 환경에 대해 불만과 어려움을 토로하였다. 하지만 지역방송의 존립 근거인 지역성 구현을 위해 ‘맞춤형 심층보도’를 각자 상황에 맞게 모색해야 한다는 견해를 제시하였다. 아울러 대안 제시를 통해 지역사회 변화까지 이끌어 내는 것을 진정한 특종으로 인식하고 있었다. 또 디지털화를 피할 수 없는 대세로 여기면서, 속보성이 무의미해진 만큼 지역의 핵심 이슈와 문화, 역사를 반영하는 취재와 보도 방식의 혁신, 인권과 성 문제 등 특종 주제의 다양화로 차별성을 모색해야 한다는 견해가 확인되었다. 생성형 AI 등장에 대해서도 기자의 현장 취재를 통해 정확성과 진정성을 기하며 심층, 탐사보도의 가치를 재확인하는 계기로 인식하고 있었다. 지역방송 기자들은 이런 변화를 기자 개인에게 맡겨서는 안 되며, 방송사 차원의 조직적 대응이 필요하다고 인식하고 있었다.

Scoops, which have been evaluated as the pinnacle of journalism, are composed of elements such as being first, originality, depth, reliability, and influence on social change. Due to the change in the environment of media digitalization, not only the coverage conditions but also the weight and value of each scoop element are affected. This study explored changing perception of scoops by local broadcasting journalists who are in relatively worse conditions due to digitalization. They have a similar perception of scoops according to the general standard of journalism, but express complaints about the portal news environment in which local articles are undervalued compared to Seoul media. However, many opinions were presented that in-depth reporting should be sought to realize locality, which is the basis for the existence of local broadcasting. In addition, they recognized that social change through solution journalism was a true scoop. Considering digitalization as an inevitable trend, many opinions have been confirmed that differentiation should be sought by innovation in coverage and reporting methods, and diversification of topics such as gender issues and human rights, reflecting the reality that breaking news has become more meaningless. The emergence of generative AI was also recognized as an opportunity to reaffirm the value of in-depth and investigative journalism, with accuracy and sincerity through reporters" on-site coverage. Local broadcasting journalists recognized that these changes should not be left to individual reporters, and that a systematic response at the broadcasting company level was necessary.
