Abstract
This article aims to see if CNN and Fox News uses different news frames in reporting the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021, and analyzes CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360° and Fox News’s Tucker Carlson Tonight on the basis of their news transcripts. This article argues that Tucker Carlson Tonight reported based on the frame that the left and the Democratic Party conspired to suppress the rights of American citizens, while Anderson Cooper 360° attempted to deliver the frame that American democracy was in crisis. Overall, this paper seeks to demonstrate that the partisan bias was more visible in Tucker Carlson Tonight than in Anderson Cooper 360°, and that the partisan difference between the two news programs was also detected in their news frames by which they contextualized such words as ‘Trump’ and ‘BLM.’
