한국사회에 유입된 한자 음역어의 시기별 유입과정 분석

Abstract

우리말의 어휘 체계 중 대부분을 한자어가 차지하게 된 것은 오랜 역사적 관계나 지리적 상황으로 볼 때, 어찌 보면 당연한 결과 인지도 모른다. 하지만, 과거에 중국이 自國의 발음을 기본으로 하여 만들어 썼던 한자 음역어가 우리국어 속에 지금까지 존재하고 있다는 것은 분명 문제가 있는 것이며, 상당히 부끄러운 일이다. 게다가, 우리 고유의 문자인 훈민정음이 창제된 이후에도 우리민족은 중국이 한자로 음역한 어휘를 주체적인 순화과정 없이 고유어 속에 무분별하게 받아들였다. 이것이 바로 필자가 한자 음역어를 문제 삼는 근본 이유이다. 이러한 여러 문제점이 있음에도 불구하고, 우리는 지금까지 한자 음역어들에 대한 연구를 함에 있어서, 항상 명확한 기준이나 구분 없이 통째로 용례를 나열하는 정도에 그쳐왔다. 그러나 본 논문은 기존의 한계에서 한 걸음 더 나아가, 국어 속에 수용되어 있는 복잡한 한자 음역어들의 유입과정을 유입된 시기와 유형별로 나누어 체계적으로 정리하였으며 현재 우리 국어 생활에 영향을 미치고 있는 어휘들을 중점적으로 고찰하였다.

The Chinese Character(漢字) had been introduced 漢字 into Korea since the period of the Three States. During the long period, Chinese Character has been naturally converged and assimilated into Korean language with passing time, so now Chinese character roughly consists more than 2/3 in the lexicon of Korean. Especially, since 19th century, the new word has been introduced with introducing of foreign culture indiscreetly causing rapidly changing of structure of Korea society during the historical disordered time of Korea. The Chinese characters transliteration, introduced during thatperiod, has been affecting a lot on our Korean language. It is only natural that Korean vocabulary is mostly consist of Chinese chracterter when we consider the relation between Korea and China which is maintained in long period and the geographical situation. However, it is very disgraceful that those Chinese characters transliteration still remains in Korean language. Moreover, even ‘Hunminjeongeum(Korean script) ’was created which is the our own character system of Korea, Koreans have been thoughtlessly taking the word which is based on chinese character without any filtering. This is the fundamental reason the author takes issue with Chinese characters transliteration seriously.
