문학과 수학의 문제: 역설과 부정을 중심으로

Abstract

우리가 무엇인가를 수학적으로 의식한다는 것은 무엇인가에 들어 있는 명백한 이중성에 이끌렸다는 것이다. 그것이 역설로서 유클리드의 기하학에서 시작되었고 결국 수학적 상상력은 우리의 정신과 감각에까지 영향을 미친다. 수학은 인간이 상상할 수 있는 무한의 개념도 가장 단순한 형식으로 만들 수 있고 그것을 경험할 수 있도록 공식이나 도표로 만들어 합리적인 조직 속에서 검증되도록 한다. 더 나아가 수학은 가장 작은 세계로부터 가장 넒은 우주의 신비는 물론 복잡한 인간의 정신과 세상의 사물에 대한 정확성 언어를 가지고 있다. 이 논문은 수학을 단순한 공식으로 대입하거나 대체할 수 있는 대수학적 방식이 아니라 인간의 행동과 순수한 사고를 융합할 수 있다는 가능성에서 출발한다. 수학의 형식을 통해 인간의 사고와 행동을 해석하고 연결시키는 것은 중요한 과제이다. 유클리드 기하학은 근본적인 사유로서의 공리이지만 비유클리드 기하학의 등장으로 수학은 더 이상 요약된 수학의 상징적 언어가 아니다. 그 중에서도 문학적 상상력을 수학적 상징으로 대입함으로써 얼마나 자연적으로 문학적 상상력과 시의 사고할 수 있는지를 가늠하고자 한다. 왜냐하면 수학은 모든 언어 중에서도 가장 안정되고 창의적인 언어이기 때문이다.

This paper studies the fact that in literature, philosophy and human science the paradox and negative are related and evidenced by the axiom and proposition of Euclidean geometry in principle, norm and regulation to think from the ancient period to the 18th century. The point here this paper insists is that we don’t think Zeno’s story is not literary episode but mathematical fact or just paradox so that we can not go to the imaginary notion or dimension outside for many years just because we have prisoned in the dialect and logic for the system and formula in mathematics that are very important to know specific legend. Therefore, in order to analyze the Wordsworth’s poetry as a sample we get over the confined and restricted paradox or logic from the form or fly to the physical or universal truth or beauty in the content of literature. Finally it is not the language just for the mathematical understanding of precision and completeness. It is the one we symbolize and created the inside or outside of nature through the mathematical sense. Because mathematic is the language that are steady, convergent, divergent silence or presence in the world.
